Updates and Things to Know Before You Come
Dutch Creek is a real working ranch, meaning it can be dusty and/or muddy depending on the recent weather. A good pair of sturdy shoes that you don't care if you get dirty is a good idea for daily use walking around the ranch. The second update, is that it has been much cooler this August than in previous Summers. We were assuming it would be very hot and sunny, but according to how things are going recently with the weather, it would be a good idea to bring warm clothes with you to throw on or even change into pants or jeans at the wedding as the sun goes down. Looking forward to seeing you all very soon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!

Sharing rides/Alpine Taxi
I have a couple friends who live in town who would like to share an Alpine Taxi ride home from wedding with anyone willing to share the cost?! They have several sized cars or vans available to split. Please contact Katie at 970-846-9520 (or leave a comment here) if you are interested in sharing a safe ride home!?!
Also, people have started asking us who's flying in and when... I believe there are only 2 planes from Denver into Hayden per day, so the chances of multiple people being on the same plane is very good. I would like to start getting a list of who's coming at what time on what day, and who will have a car or not so we can start help groups find each other.... SO either post on here what your flight plans are or write me an email robert_p_davis@hotmail.com and I will post your information... keep checking the comments under this post to see who is doing what!

Registry
We don't like the idea of picking out a bunch of items and implying that you all must buy us something. With that said, we have discussed the idea of "the registry" over and over and some friends and family have actually already expressed interest in wanting to get us something, so we have come up with some ideas where they can help. Carrie is an avid backpacker and kayaker, and Bobby loves the water and the river and is currently learning how to row a whitewater raft so we can enjoy multi-day river trips together in the future. We would love to have our own raft to paddle down the river and all the gear to make our camping enjoyable and trips as safe as possible.
With that said, our primary registry and number one desire will be to purchase said boat and the equipment we need to go with it. Our great friend Chris Welch, who is a Firefighter on Bobby's shift, has graciously agree to be our registry for the boat. There will be a couple ways to contribute to this: You can actually contribute to the boat itself with a bank account that Chris has set up, or purchase individual items. Chris, a former river guide, has a list of items and will be checking them off to reduce duplicate. Please contact Chris at 208-850-0032 or email him at ssfr615@yahoo.com.
We do now have a secondary more traditional registry to choose from now at these two sites:
www.bedbathandbeyond.com
www.williams-sonoma.com
Note: If you do attempt to send us anything by mail, there are specific directions to follow...
For UPS or Fed Ex, send to our physical address:
3459 Sunburst Court,
Steamboat Springs, CO
80487.
US Mail, send to:
PO BOX 883412,
Steamboat Springs, CO
80488.
Thanks!

Lodging near our wedding, Steamboat, CO, Aug. 22, 2009
So the date has been set, and the venue has been reserved and many more details to come will be posted for your convenience here. After lots of thought on where to have the wedding, we have decided on the Steamboat area. which represents our relationship better than anywhere else.
The wedding will be held August 22nd, 2009 just North of Steamboat at a beautiful ranch on Steamboat Lake. The ceremony and reception will be held at Dutch Creek Guest Ranch (www.dutchcreek.net) with beautiful views of the lake and mountains surrounding. Given that this site is a 25+min drive from Steamboat and that many people will have to fly or drive many miles to attend the wedding, we have decided to create this blog for your convenience in finding lodging close to the venue as soon as you can, to assure we do not have to deal with transportation issues and so that everyone/both families can enjoy the mountains and the lake and the surrounding activities together in the days leading up to and following the wedding! Immediate family and bridal party will be staying directly at the Dutch Creek Guest Ranch, but there are only few cabins right on site. Below is the nearby lodging that can be reserved close by:
LODGING.....
Dutch Creek Guest Ranch: Some wedding party and close family have already reserved all of the cabins at the ranch for the nights of August 20th - 22nd.
Steamboat Lake Outfitters: 2miles away, rehearsal dinner site, have small and large cabins available and also lodge ("bunkhouse") rooms. Very clean, simple and cutesy cabin-like. Full service restaurant on site and convenience store. http://www.steamboatoutfitters.com/
There may be a couple cabins/rooms available due to some recent (or soon to be) cancellations....call SLO to see if the rooms are available, if not, call Carrie or Bobby for more information!! Carrie: 970-367-6120, Bobby: 970-846-5477
Steamboat Lake Marina Cabins: at Steamboat Lake State Park, directly across the street, within 1 mile. Several different sized cabins, very clean, right on the lake. Note, these cabins are more rustic, meaning they provide the beds, kitchen, etc. but you must bring your own bedding or sleeping bag. Shower house on site. www.park.state.co.us/parks/steamboatlake
Columbine Cabins: Cute, rustic cabins directly across from Hahn's Peak. Several different cabin price ranges/amenities. Easy access to nearby trails/hiking. 4 miles from wedding site.

All room are SOLD OUT, sorry.
Glen Eden Resort: Cabins and lodge rooms on the river just down the road from wedding site 6 miles, full service restaurant on site. Prices vary per each cabin. http://www.glenedenresort.com/
They had one small cabin left, last I checked
Home Ranch: Beautiful full service resort on the much higher end of the price range. They have very comfortable and western art themed lodge rooms and cabins and full service restaurant for guests. http://www.homeranch.com/
Camping: Steamboat Lake State Park, across the street (within 1 mile),
www.parks.state.co.us/Parks/SteamboatLake/Camping/
Make your reservation for camping ASAP for there are not many sites left for the weekend!!
Midnight Ranch: Midnight ranch looks really neat online and they have 3 different cabins to rent nightly or weekly. 1 is a 3 br that sleeps 10, 1 is a 4 br that sleeps 12 and the other is a 4 br that sleeps 9+ (one of them is not on website). The cabins are 10 miles from the site of wedding and 8mi from the site of the rehearsal dinner. The rates are reasonable and the cabins look really cute online. Its a bit of a distance than some of the other options, but still better than driving all the way back into town in Steamboat! http://www.midnightranch.com/index.php
